Before you do anything else
Four things to do while you wait for us.
If a tree has come down on or near your home, the next few minutes matter more than the cleanup does. Take these in order.
If any wires are down, involved or even nearby — stop here.
Treat every downed line as live. Stay at least 30 feet back, keep children and pets inside, and don't touch anything the line is touching — including fences, puddles, and vehicles. Electricity travels through water, metal, wood and plastic alike.
Report it to Dominion Energy Virginia on 866-366-4357 — and if there's immediate danger to anyone, call 911 first. We will not begin work on a tree involving power lines until the utility has confirmed the line is dead.

Get everyone out and away
If a tree is on the structure, leave the house. A damaged roof or wall can shift hours after the impact, and nothing inside is worth standing under it for.
STEP 02
Keep clear underneath
Rope off or stay out of the area under any hanging limb or leaning trunk. Hung-up branches drop on their own schedule, often with no warning at all.
STEP 03
Photograph it before anything moves
Wide shots and close-ups, from a safe distance. Your insurer will want to see the damage as it happened, and photos taken after cleanup are worth far less on a claim.

Emergency tree work is about controlling what's already gone wrong before it gets worse. That's a different job from a planned removal.
Fallen trees blocking access

Widowmakers caught in the canopy over a walkway, driveway or play area. These come out first because they're the ones that injure people after the storm has passed.

Post-storm property clearing
After the hazard is dealt with, the rest of the mess still has to go. Brush, limbs and debris cleared so adjusters, roofers and fence crews can actually get to the damage.

The scene gets made safe
Before a saw runs, we work out where the loads and tensions are. A fallen tree is full of stored energy — bent limbs, compressed trunks, a root plate that can drop back. That assessment is the whole job in the first ten minutes.

Weight comes off in controlled pieces
Sections are rigged and lowered, or picked with the crane where it's on a roof. Nothing gets dragged across a damaged structure. Once the hazard is gone, the rest of the tree comes down as a normal removal.

Cleared, documented and walked with you
Debris hauled, the area raked and blown, and photographs plus a written description of the work handed over for your claim. We'll also flag any other trees on the property the storm has left compromised.
Why this work is different
Storm-fallen trees are the most dangerous cutting there is.
A standing tree behaves predictably. A fallen one is a loaded spring — trunks under compression, limbs bent double, a root plate holding tons of soil that can slam back into the hole the moment the weight shifts. Most serious chainsaw injuries happen in exactly this situation, to people cleaning up their own yards.
Please don't. Our crew is trained on storm work, rigging and aerial rescue, and we're fully insured — liability and workers' compensation both, with the certificate available before we start. That matters more here than on any other job: if an uninsured cutter is hurt on your property during a storm cleanup, that can land on your homeowner's policy.

How fast can you actually get here?
Genuine hazards — a tree on a house, a limb over a walkway, a blocked driveway — get same-day priority, and we'll often be out within hours. The honest caveat is that after a hurricane or a major nor'easter the entire region calls at once, and no company can be everywhere. What we will do is give you a real timeline instead of a hopeful one, so you can decide whether to wait or ring someone else.
Will my homeowner's insurance cover this?
Often, though it depends on your policy and on what the tree hit. As a general pattern, many policies cover removal when a tree damages a covered structure, and cover less — or nothing — when a tree simply falls in the yard. Deductibles and per-tree caps vary widely. Call your insurer early, keep every photo, and we'll provide the documentation they ask for. We can't tell you what your policy covers, but we can make sure you have the paperwork to find out quickly.
A tree is on power lines. Can you take it off?
Not until the utility has been out and confirmed the line is dead. Report it to Dominion Energy Virginia on 866-366-4357, stay at least 30 feet clear, and call 911 if there's immediate danger to anyone. Once the line is confirmed de-energised or the utility has cleared their portion, we'll handle the tree. Any company that offers to cut a tree off a live line is not one you want on your property.
My neighbour's tree fell on my property. Whose problem is it?
Generally the responsibility follows where the tree ends up rather than where it grew, so a neighbour's tree landing on your house usually goes through your policy first — with your insurer potentially pursuing theirs if the tree was known to be dangerous and nothing was done. It gets complicated quickly. We'll clear the tree and document what we find; for the liability question, talk to your insurer.
Can I just cut it up myself?
Please be careful with this one. A fallen tree is under tension in ways that aren't obvious from looking at it, and a compressed trunk or bent limb can release with enormous force the moment you cut into the wrong side. Storm cleanup is where most serious chainsaw injuries happen. Small branches on open ground, fine. Anything under load, on a structure, overhead or near a line — call somebody.
Do you charge extra for emergency call-outs?
Emergency work is priced for what it is — short notice, harder conditions and often more crew — but you'll get the number before we start, not afterwards. What we won't do is quote a panic price because a tree is on your roof and you have no choice. If you want to compare quotes and it's safe to wait, we'll tell you it's safe to wait.
